GREENHUT: Californians really are fleeing our lovely state

This is really, really weird. It's almost as if the scales fell off of their eyes and they finally see the horror facing CA.
Governmental instability is an understandable reason to flee. In cities that have overspent on lush pensions and wasteful redevelopment projects, traditional public services (infrastructure, public safety, parks, etc.) suffer ---- something that will get worse as more localities file for bankruptcy.

Toxic State Syndrome: As California Declines, Texas Rises

And yet another one!  Hey, all I did was type "california" into google!
What may be most damaging about California’s tax debate is its tone of desperation. The state is like a man at the end of his rope who has taken hostages—in this case, the schools. Meanwhile, Texas and other states are poaching California jobs with tax incentives at a scale that California state and local governments can’t afford, most recently with the $36 million package of tax breaks and investment funds that convinced Apple Inc. to expand in Austin and add some 3,600 jobs.

California doesn’t do such things, and it’s not out of libertarian principle. It’s because the state just doesn’t have the wherewithal. And it never will, if it can’t learn to live within its means. If the data from migration and job creation send one message above all, it’s that fiscal discipline matters. States that cannot pay their bills lose jobs, people, and wealth to the states that can.

America’s future: California or Texas?

The comparison is hard not to make.
When California hikes taxes; Texas reduces spending.

California deindustrializes, then disingenuously crows about per capita energy use reductions as if unemployment or offshoring were a good thing; manufacturing actually makes up a bigger share of Texas’ economy today than it did 10 years ago.

California pays its teachers extremely well; but national standardized test scores show Texas does a far better job at educating children across a diverse racial and ethnic spectrum.

On paper, California’s official poverty rate is a couple of points lower than Texas’; but Texas, with a cost-of-living 42 percent cheaper than California’s and a far-lower unemployment rate, has a cost-of-living adjusted poverty rate 7 percent lower than California’s (paying less for food, rent, and transportation matters a lot when you’re struggling to make ends meet).

Once a portent of things to come, California threatens to be a harbinger of national doom — clearly warning the nation of the danger of an overbearing government.

By contrast, prudent Texas shows the way to a once-and-future America — an America that values hard work and rewards investment and where government’s role is limited to securing liberty.

How California Unions Hijacked the Golden State

Nice summation of what I've been reporting on these past couple of years.

This isn’t rocket science. Governments can’t continue to load higher costs onto a shrinking taxpayer base. In tough times, half of the state’s income tax is shouldered by one percent of filers. This is an unhealthy situation, especially since the number of tax returns in the state reporting income above $500,000 dropped by one third between 2007 and 2009 as the economy softened and people left the state.

Hollywood thrives on happy endings. Cutting California’s taxes and regulations that are driving employers out of the state could provide just that, but such policy decisions could well require a new cast – and a new director.

More of XCOR's space launch vehicle to be build outside of California

I talked about this in my blog (that I accidentally wiped out!). XCOR has essentially moved out of CA to TX.
California is losing on all fronts. Thousands of well-paid people and hundreds of tax paying companies are leaving California each week. Mojave's Air & Space Port is in the process of losing even more business.

The XCOR Aerospace company announced that the Lynx Mark I suborbital reusable launch vehicle (RLV) wing strake assemblies will be manufactured by FiberDyne Advanced Composites of Tukwila, Washington.

The wing strakes are critical structural components that attach the Lynx fuselage to the wings and hold kerosene fuel, attachment points for the main landing gear, and bays for the vehicle's reaction control thrusters.

California company plans northern Iowa operation

The significance of this story is that the not in CA.
Executive Director Karen Mitchell of the Franklin County Development Association says Catalina expects to create 25 jobs at first, with more hiring as production increases.

The Hampton plant will produce tempered glass for commercial and residential uses.

Catalina Tempering is a subsidiary of Glasswerks Inc., which is based in South Gate, Calif.

YADACAL California bans hound hunting of bears, bobcats

Well, you did it.  Another worthless law to make criminals out of people.
“That legislation has put me out of business, and I don't have the money to sue the state of California. The father of my two kids is out of work, and no one seemed to listen,” Gregory said. “In these hard economic times, why are we putting people out of work?”

Hunting brings a steady stream of revenue to the state, and Gregory is worried that flow could be dammed if hunters can no longer use their dogs. According to Department of Fish and Game data, the state received almost $1 million in 2010 from resident bear tag application fees, about half of which came from hunters who used dogs.
The really crazy thing is that bears are not endangered.  According to this article, the bear population is increasing.   Yet Another Dumb Ass California Law.

California dairies going broke due to feed, milk prices

This is what happens when you don't let the market decide prices:
And while milk revenues in California have soared to over $7.5 billion in 2011, making milk the top agricultural commodity, higher revenues mean little, famers say, because it costs so much more to produce the milk.

"I don’t think there’s a milk producer in the state who is profitable right now," said Michael Marsh, CEO of Western United Dairymen.

Since 2008, California has lost nearly 300 dairies, with 1,668 remaining as of January, according to the California Department of Food and Agriculture. There are no official estimates on how many dairies have shuttered in 2012 — but interviews with dairymen and experts indicate several hundred dairies could be in danger of going under.

"It’s been like a floodgate," said Riley Walter, a Fresno-based agricultural bankruptcy lawyer who has worked on 58 cases of dairies in financial trouble this past year — from bankruptcies, to liquidations, to operations taken over by receivers.

"Recently, I had two men over 60 years old who broke down and sobbed in court," Walter said. "You would be surprised how much these men care about their cows."
And why is this happening? Read it and weep...
California has had its own milk pricing system for dairy since the 1930’s, separate from that operated by the federal government in other states. The California Department of Food and Agriculture sets minimum prices that must be paid to farmers in the state for five classes of milk.

In recent years, California’s prices tended to be lower than in other states. In 2011 and 2012, California’s price for milk used to make cheese was frequently $2 or more lower per hundredweight of milk than in the rest of the nation.

CDFA spokesman Steve Lyle said the reason for lower prices is that milk supply exceeds demand in California.

The glut forces California producers to sell much of their milk to makers of products such as cheese, which pays much less than selling milk for drinking. And since much of the milk is sold out of state, the price farmers receive is lower to reflect higher transportation costs.

Several dairy organizations filed suit in August, alleging that CDFA failed to follow the law when it refused to increase the minimum price of milk sold for cheese to bring it in line with prices around the country.

Amazing video of a black Bishop laying it all out there for their church members - or anyone else that would care to heed his message.  I have never been able to understand the black's affinity to the Democrat Party.  They are responsible for the death of the black family.  But it may not be too late. I just wonder how many blacks will think for themselves and realize he's right.

Here is the link to his S.T.A.N.D. website.  I sure hope this catches on.

And here is the youtube video of his message:

Crazifornia: How California Is Committing Suicide

This is the book I should have written.
It’s probably too late to save California. Laer tries to inject some optimism at the end of each chapter and in the conclusion to his book he notes that voter patterns might finally be changing (although recent polling data makes me less optimistic). As cities go bankrupt, gas and food prices rise, businesses bail, and the California middle class becomes poor, some of the voters might finally be growing up. Whether they can reverse California’s downward trend remains questionable.

Laer has some excellent suggestions for getting the political pendulum unstuck from its far Left position, but it will be ugly, and it will have to be carried out by people who have been subjected to one hundred years of California’s Progressive propaganda.

When you read Laer’s book (and I hope this review has convinced you to do so), you will see that it is a profound morality tale about what happens when America’s green, anti-capitalist Progressivism gains the upper hand in government. So remember, only you can prevent the Crazifornication of America.

So, I guess the answer to this is for Christians to just lose it and riot and deface public property.  That way, if THEIR voice can't be heard, no way the Islam voice is going to get heard.

Looks like the have the makings of civil and religious strife.  Waytago there, NYC!!
On Friday, TheBlaze spoke with a spokesperson who confirmed some of the details surrounding the case, while clarifying the new changes that passed on Thursday. As noted, one of the emergent provisions that was added into the public company’s advertising standards in the wake of the Geller debate allows the MTA to deny ads it believes could incite violence (this was not mentioned in the press release the agency put out about the changes).
I'm really wondering what country I'm really living in.

Republicans blast California's move to hype healthcare law on TV shows

No one.  No. One.  likes to be preached at.
The Golden State made headlines when its insurance exchange — created by the healthcare law — hired Ogilvy Public Relations to pitch TV shows on story lines involving President Obama's signature law.

On Friday, Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) pushed the Obama administration on whether the $900,000 Ogilvy contract is the right use of taxpayer dollars.

"Americans' hard-earned money should not be taken by government to subsidize Hollywood and insert propaganda into the popular culture," the lawmakers wrote. "It should be going toward ensuring the cost of healthcare is being lowered for all Americans."
I sure am glad we have all this money to throw at absolutely stupid things.

Where do “Obama phones” come from?

This is horrifying.

The program is called Lifeline, established in 1984, originally created to subsidize landline phone service for low income Americans, funded by government-collected telecommunication fees, paid by consumers.

In 2008, the program was expanded to support cell phones which quickly escalated the cost of the program. In 2008 the program cost $772 million, but by 2011 it cost $1.6 billion.

A 2011 audit found that 269,000 wireless Lifeline subscribers were receiving free phones and monthly service from two or more carriers. Several websites have been created to promote “free” government cell phones, including the”The Obama Cell Phone” website at
$1.6 billion for 269,000 subscribers.  Divide that out and you get $5947 spent PER USER.  Divide that out again and you get $495 PER MONTH.

This is sickening. What this says it takes about $450 per month of Bureaucrat overhead to get $50 worth of phone service to each person.  What WASTE!!

Government perverts everything it touches.  The Founding Fathers understood this.  That's why they severely limited the Federal Government's functions.  We need to return to this.

The United States of California

Is it possible?  If it is, then we are seeing the death of the America as we used to know it.  And as far as being a conservative is concerned we may all be just rearranging deck chairs on the USSAmerica.

Republicans lost the last presidential election to O'bama.  The same may happen this time as well.  Could this be an indication of things to come for conservative/Republican states?

To see the future all we have to do is look at CA.  With unemployment at incredible highs, revenue not able to keep up with expenditures, illegal immigration seen as an asset instead of a liability and massive migration out of the state, CA elected a Democratic Governor.

From all that I've read about CA - and I hope I'm wrong - and it has been almost two years worth of news articles, conservatives are fighting a Lost Cause.

This all reminds me of Communist regimes.  Pick one.  USSR, North Korea or Cuba.  Not matter how bad things got, there was one and only one overriding theme:

The Supremacy of the State.

The Soviet Union is the best example of this so far in that their belief in The State took it to the very brink and then over it.  The Collapse was devastating.  It was only then that things changed and only after great hardship was Russia able to emerge on the other side.
The immediate bodily memory from that time that comes to mind is the sensation of cold. Cold winters, faltering heat, cold homes, cold classrooms in college; wearing coats in lecture halls and hallways, pen ink freezing. Warm clothes and small space heaters are a must-have. Also, vitamins and supplements were great items to have on hand. I remember a large bottle of multivitamins from some western charity's 'humanitarian aid', and how much better we felt after taking them.

By the time the Soviet Union collapsed in December of 1991, the retail stores were routinely empty. In the winter of 91-92, the starvation on a national scale was narrowly averted. In 1992, "The First Default" hit and the currency took a plunge, obliterating everyone's savings. I went to college later that year and my stipend, which was supposed to cover one's basic living expenses in a free student housing, was just enough to buy a chocolate bar.

Look at North Korea.  Massive starvation.  Poverty that makes it look like a cold weather Somalia.  At what point will the suffering end?  It will only end when there is utter chaos among The State.  When those in charge finally throw up their hands, give up and walk away.  But look at the number of people that they will take with them in the meantime.  It is truly heartbreaking and disgusting.
But a few years ago, our dreams started to disappear. At home, we ran out of rice and corn, which weren’t replenished from the distribution station. My mother made corn gruel for us. Everyday she waited in line to get the rations. She had to wait almost 10 days to get much smaller rations compared to the previous ones. My father always looked sluggish at home because of malnutrition and hard labor in the coal mines. He stopped having the small beer parties he used to have with his friends. As soon as he came home, he couldn’t help lying down.

Meanwhile, my mother roamed around, collecting some edible grass in order to make soup with corn flour. She served one bowl of that soup to my father, sister and me, but took only half a bowl for herself. So-yon and I managed quite well. However, my parents were adults so didn’t seem to have enough. They looked languid and depressed.
I read recently that the "New Dear Leader" was going to institute land reform.  I just hope it's not too little too late.

And there's Cuba:
In Cuba, every family possesses The Card. Their ration card system allows them to obtain the food and staples that a Cuban family must learn to live on for a month.

Lately, many of these items are not obtainable in Cuba, even on the ration system. People, such as doctors, are expected to not only live on this ration but also to be alert at work in order to help other people.

Fathers and mothers must constantly tell their children that some things are just not possible. Doctors have to tell patients and families that their outcomes could be better if only they had the correct medicine.

So...that brings us   At what point in the line of history will we finally give up on the Supremacy of The State?  My hope is that it will be sooner rather than later.  In the past, due to the form of government we have, we have always been quick to learn from our mistakes, face them and change direction.  But at that point we believed in the Supremacy of the People.

Well, we don't believe that anymore.

Look at CA.  They look to be about 10 to 15 years ahead of the rest of the nation.  What will it take for them to stop believing in the SOTS?  I think it will take a complete collapse of their governing capability.  Only the Rot from the Inside will succeed in bringing it all down.  Only then will the people finally tell the government in CA to go take a hike and leave us alone.

Like I said.  The Leftists just.  Don't.  Get it.
California’s state song will soon be changed from "California, Here I Come!" to "California, There It Goes!" An American icon, the Campbell Soup Company, is closing its plant in Sacramento, leaving 700 people without jobs. The plant was built in 1947, and some of its workers have worked there for forty years or more.

Workers give up in Los Angeles

The Leftists just don't get it.  This won't quit until there is utter devastation left.  This is the legacy of Statism.
When surveyed by the government, fewer L.A. residents say they're unemployed compared to a year ago. But it's not because they're finding jobs. It's because they're dropping out of the labor force altogether.

Just over 100,000 of workers have left the Los Angeles labor force since the beginning of the year, according to seasonally adjusted data from the California Employment Development Department.

The decline stands in stark contrast to other major metropolitan areas. New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., and San Francisco are all seeing their labor forces grow.

German Homeschoolers To Flee To America?

The USA and other countries.  The German laws especially affect those that want to homeschool.
Another obstacle to immigration, he said, is the large size of some of the German Russian families: “Some of them have 12 children. It’s not easy to find an American sponsor for such a large family.”

Guenther praised Houston, Texas, attorney Bruce Shortt for his ongoing research into the immigration laws and his search for a way to bring the German Christians to America. The aspiring immigrants have also received support in America from the Home School Legal Defense Association.

“America is vital to the preservation of Christianity,” Guenther said. “The fight in Germany is pretty much over; we don’t think there’s anything more we can do in Germany. But America has resisted socialism and secularism. It’s still a country of religious freedom.”

“I and many others have tried over the last year to bring pressure on the German government to get them to respect the rights of Christian parents in Germany,” Shortt said. His efforts included an email campaign directed at the German Embassy. He told Guenther in an email that “there are various strategies on immigration … I think there may be some families here [in Houston] who would be willing to provide temporary help to immigrating Germans.”

The experience of the German Christians, he said, “ought to be a cautionary tale for all Christians and homeschoolers.”

Controversy heats up over Pro-Israeli ad in Times Square - New York

What.  A. Moron.  Says she refuses hate.  But by defacing the ad and spraying all over the woman who is trying to stop her, she is saying others can't speak their mind.   Refuse hate?  She LOVES hate!

And, of course, by spraying the person that was trying to stop her...I think we would call this assault and battery.  This lady is in a heap o' trouble.

40 Years Of Obamacare

2013. Obamacare goes into effect.

2020 Healthcare is available for everyone.

2025 Doctor’s offices are overwhelmed by all kinds of patients; thresholds are set up to prevent people from seeing the doctor for every little sniffle. Thresholds work.

2028 American Medical Association has determined that prostate and breast exams have little or no real value. The federal government no longer will pay for these exams. The AMA encourages the use of more thresholds. “We feel these thresholds can be moved up or down, depending on the case load in the area". The Federal Government institutes “variable thresholds” and chaos ensues. What would get you in to see a doctor on one day will not get you in the next. Cancer treatment is denied a 23 year old athlete, but a week earlier was approved for someone 70 years old, with stage 4 cancer and smokes.

When asked about this issue, agency chair says “the variable thresholds are a function of available funds, patient load and severity. Since any of these variables can change, the equation we use is quite complex. In fact, we used the pricing of milk as the basis for our model." When it is pointed out to him that the milk pricing model sets a HIGH price for milk, he is then asked if this equates to a too high of a threshold, the agency leader responds “What’s your point?”

2031 The federal government not only will no longer pay for PSA testing or breast exams, they inform doctors they can no longer perform the procedures and will be fined and penalized if they do.

All drug production, quotas and deliveries are planned out of Washington DC. Supply chain disruptions occur even for aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen. Government quotas are not being met. Drugs that were once common have become scarce. All prices are now set by Washington agencies.

For the first time in 80 years, the vast majority of new drug listings and patents filed in the USA are by drug companies in other countries, particularly from India.

2034 New CBO report is issued showing that for every 100 dollars raised in taxes, fees and premiums only one dollar goes to actual healthcare for recipients. Antiquated computer systems and certification systems allow the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars of pain killers. Patients are lost in the system.

2037 Doctors fearing for their own wellbeing are quitting or retiring from their practices in droves. Not only are more fines imposed, but non-compliance in too many cases results in imprisonment. As a result, inmates of prisons find they are getting the very best of medical care. "It's like having my own personal physician" said a smiling John Gabriel. Mr. Gabriel was incarcerated and is serving a life sentence for torturing and then killing his girlfriend.

Dr. Nathan Eversol (former Chief of Medicine at James River Hospital in Richmond, Virginia) responded to questions about his recent arrest and imprisonment. "Think about it. I wanted to treat my patient. I wanted my patient to get better. For that, I am in jail."

The federal government relies more on nurse practitioners and physician assistants to treat patients. But this doesn’t make the situation better. More wedges are being driven deeper between the doctor and his patient in doing this.

2040 Massive over spending, fraud, corruption, crony capitalism, and government control have resulted in a slow descent of the life expectancy of Americans. the US which stood at 38th in the world as of 2010 is now 138th, supplanting North Korea. China, which to this day still does not mandate health insurance for its citizens has risen to 15th. China had repudiated all ties to Communism as of 2030.

By this time, private health insurance companies have ceased to exist and there is only the single payer system in place now. Since doctors/NPs/PAs have been banned from denying patients the use of government health insurance as payment, more doctors/NPS/PAs quit as the cost has far outstripped the payments from the government.

2045 Doctors are no longer paid on a per-patient basis. Doctors are paid a flat fee per day.

2050 The federal government no longer uses the term “health care”. It is now “managed care”.

2053 Forty years have passed. Managed Care has turned into a system that instead of helping people to live is now a system that helps people to die.

Epilogue: August 4, 2054 Obama, now 94 years of age is asked during an interview how he feels about what has happened to his legacy, having served two terms that allowed him to firm the grasp the federal government had on the country. The United States of America, because of rampant government spending, top-down control of the economy, short-sighted regulations, corruption at all levels of the government and poorly, vaguely written regulations that contradict others, is now relegated to almost third world status. He is asked, "Do you consider what you've done a failure or a success?"

Obama, looking quizzically at the interviewer with still-sharp, piercing eyes, shakes his head a little and says "I stand by my legacy. What's your point?"

Ladies and gents.  If there is one thing that government has taught us is that whatever endeavor they engage in, they will waste money in the process, treat you and me like shit and slam the hammer down on us if we don't comply.

There never is, there never will be anything compassionate about government.  For every law that was meant to right a wrong forever gets twisted to do the opposite and instead it wrongs a right.

Sure the battle before the Supreme Court was won by the Leftists.  But in the end, the Leftists will LOSE.  But by that point it will be too late for us.  And what will be the state of mind of Americans by that point?  Will we mimic CA and pile on more of the same thinking that that insanity will solve our imaginary problems?

Yes, in the end the Leftists will lose.  We will watch the perversion of compassion. And in the end, we will all lose.

California’s upcoming pension avalanche

Good article, but it could use a few extra numbers to prove its point.

On Sept. 12, Gov. Jerry Brown signed AB 340, the Pension Reform Act, in which he promised “sweeping bipartisan pension reform legislation that saves billions of taxpayer dollars by capping benefits, increasing the retirement age, stopping abusive practices and requiring state employees to pay at least half of their pension costs.”

Once Brown ceases his self-congratulatory strutting, he might realize that his reforms are in effect only against newly hired public employees. The state will only begin to see meaningful pension savings around the year 2055, when the current batch of public sector new-hires begin to retire. This extended time frame also gives powerful public employee unions decades to bribe and coerce lawmakers to peel back the hard fought reforms before they go into full effect.

Of course, everybody would like a comfortable pension after a lifetime’s worth of hard work, but the tragic fact remains that there is not enough private capital to support legions of public sector pensioners at current rates.

However, California’s pension saga certainly will come to a dramatic climax well before mid-century. Without a drastic change in trajectory, future economic and fiscal scenarios appear bleak, and someday California’s true pension reform will likely be hammered out by a judge in a bankruptcy court during a federally mandated restructuring package in return for federal bailouts needed for the state’s daily operating expenses.

If nothing is done, California’s insolvency drama likely will mimic the current Greek economic tragedy.

California Mayor Asks for Prayers as Bankruptcy Looms

Looks like things are moving quickly for the city.
Atwater’s City Council is set to vote Oct. 3 on a fiscal emergency declaration that would permit it to follow other California cities -- Stockton, San Bernardino and Mammoth Lakes -- into bankruptcy court. Across the state, the recession and the foreclosure crisis have depleted property-tax revenue at the same time municipalities are burdened with rising costs including pensions.

“We are in a tough spot,” Mayor Joan Faul, 71, said by telephone. “All I can say, sir, is keep us in your prayers. We will need it.”

Comcast to move up to 1,000 jobs from area

This is a real shame.  I doubt many of these were high paying positions, but they were at least decent paying positions.
Operations at the cable company's call centers in Livermore, Morgan Hill and Sacramento will be shifted to centers in Oregon, Washington and Colorado at the end of November, Comcast said.

The approximately 1,000 employees at the three sites apparently will be offered a chance at jobs in the new locations.

"We will work with displaced employees should they wish to relocate to the jobs outside of California," said Andrew C. Johnson, regional vice president of Comcast California. "For those employees who cannot find a place at Comcast, we'll provide severance benefits and outplacement assistance."

California governor signs pension “reform” bill

This socialist website keeps coming up when I search CA.  I don't understand it.  But that's ok. I just don't know why they are so enamored with these CA pension plans.  Heck, I haven't seen the numbers but my guess is the vast majority of workers aren't covered by a pension plan at all.

I'm impressed that they make a note of the SEIU's hypocrisy by highlighting pay raises with in the SEIU at the same time the working stiffs have to make concessions in their pensions.

California manufacturer plans move to Sturgis

That's in IA.  Not CA.
“Over eight years ago, I had my first conversations with Sturgis area leaders about moving our manufacturing business to the Black Hills,” he said. “It has been a long road with many people helping us obtain our goal. This move is a giant step for Samson to continue to be a world-class provider of quality products to the motorcycle community and where better should we be but in Sturgis — the world renowned 'City of Riders.'"

Samson Exhaust is a 21-year-old company that manufactures exhaust systems, mufflers and accessories for Harley-Davidson and Metric motorcycles.

“We are very excited about Kenny’s decision to relocate Samson Exhaust from California to Sturgis,” Kurtenbach said. “The motorcycle industry and custom metals manufacturing make this a natural fit.”

Something Is Wrong

Others have noticed this, too.  There is so much overlooking on the Left as to what extreme Islam has done. It's pretty tough to ignore yet, the Left does pretty much that. They keep pointing to Israel saying it has participated in genocide.  But I just don't see that.  It's crazy how far we've come  - how off the reservation the whole line of thinking has taken.
There is just a feeling in the air, a look in the sky at dusk, a look on people's faces. Fear is everywhere. Mr. Obama cannot lose this election unless enough people believe it's within their power to stop the ticking of the clock, and I do not feel that groundswell. Not at all. When the American media turns its back on our own religions of tolerance and adores a religion of intolerance, times are upside down. The MSM says it's all fine, trust The Prince of Grant Park, Chicago. But I have always preferred the admonition, "Put not your trust in princes." Something is wrong.
This is a good article.

The Great California Exodus: A Closer Look

Got this link from Drudge.  Like I said, the only people left in CA soon will be illegal immigrants. And from what I can tell, that won't last long either.
But then, as we have described, the appeal of California withered. Since 1990, domestic migration to California has flipped to a deficit. In the last two decades, the state lost nearly 3.4 million residents through migration to other states. In other words, it lost about four-fifths of what it had gained through domestic migration in the previous 30 years. Foreign immigration filled the gap only partially. Inflows from overseas peaked at 291,191 in 2002 and sank to just 164,445 in 2011. Meanwhile, net domestic out-migration has averaged 225,000 a year over the past ten years.

It's a long-ish report.  But well worth the read.

Walters: Will wealthy flee California if their taxes rise?

Uh, that would be affirmatory.
Critics of the tax measure cite golfer Tiger Woods, who grew up in Southern California but relocated to Florida, which has no state income tax, as an example of how the rich have choices.

A better example, however, might be technology inventor Gilbert Hyatt who, by happenstance, is awaiting a Nevada Supreme Court decision in a two-decades-old, high-stakes battle with California tax collectors over their efforts to declare him a taxable Californian.

Hyatt made millions of dollars from his technology inventions in the 1990s and, he says, moved to Nevada before he started reaping his bounty.

The California Franchise Tax Board aggressively pursued Hyatt for taxes but failed to collect them. Hyatt won a U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding his right to sue the board for harassment, and a Nevada jury awarded him $490 million in damages.

California Progressives Take the Offensive

On  most of these, the Progressives are fooling themselves.  The only one I may agree with them on is the harshness of the three strikes rule.

Proposition 39 is the exact opposite of what the state needs to do.  CA should be opening up more loopholes, not closing them.

This last sentence is  priceless: "Thanks to progressives’ new pro-active approach, the long Republican stranglehold on California’s future may soon end."

So, once the long Republican stranglehold is over, CA can finally enter into Paradise.  Utopia.

By that time, the only people left in CA will be illegal Mexican workers and the Progressives!
10 movies that define California.  Personally, I think Atlas Shrugs defines CA pretty well. Atlas Shrugs portrays government's "screw the businessman" idea pretty well.

In California, 'birth tourism' appears to grow

And CA is the favorite destination.
The family acknowledges it planned the birth so that Shih could become a U.S. citizen and eventually go to school here.

"The educational system in the U.S. is better and more open," said Shih's father, Simon, 55.

Critics call it "birth tourism" and the practice is solidly entrenched in the Los Angeles area, though so-called maternity homes catering to expectant mothers from East Asia are also advertised in the San Francisco Bay Area.

No one knows how many "birth tourists" visit this country each year.

In 2010, the mothers of 7,719 children born in the United States reported that they lived overseas, according to the National Center for Health Statistics – a figure up nearly 55 percent since 2000.

Critics say the data vastly understate the number, because they use information self-reported by parents during their hospital stays.

Jay Chang, who shuttles between Taipei and Los Angeles, serves as a consultant for nine maternity homes. Chang, 41, had his two children born through a maternity home over a decade ago. He argues that the practice is "in line with the spirit of the Constitution," adding that the U.S. government was "getting a good deal."

"We bring cash to pay for our births; we go back to our country to raise the child, and then he comes back to work and pay taxes to the U.S. government," Chang said in Mandarin during a phone interview from Los Angeles.

There's no good deal here.  These parents are robbing their children of the American Culture.  Taking them back to Taiwan and then sending them back here to go to college is NOt what the Constitution had intended.

Nation’s children push back against Michelle Obama-backed school lunch regs

It is a Law of Nature that government starts off with all the good intentions to do something good and ends up doing something bad usually the exact opposite of the intention.  That's why they are so good at fighting wars since this doesn't work the other way.  School lunch is no different.
“The goal of the school lunch program is supposed to be feeding children, not filling the trash cans with uneaten food,” Huelskamp said in a statement. “The USDA’s new school lunch guidelines are a perfect example of what is wrong with government: misguided inputs, tremendous waste, and unaccomplished goals. Thanks to the Nutrition Nannies at the USDA, America’s children are going hungry at school.”

"Frackdown?" Environmental activists protest gas drilling

Uh.  No.
More than 50 Code Pink members gathered near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Protesters congregated in Culver City to ask Gov. Jerry Brown to ban the shale drilling process known as “fracking.” Others gathered in Maryland and Brooklyn and in cities in between.

Wow.  MORE THAN 50.  So, I guess there were a MILLION protesters since that's more than 50, right?

This protest sounds like a resounding...

Other laws passed in California

It was a virtual cornucopia of laws for the control freaks in CA.  Here are what I would call "what if" articles that boggle the mind.  But it much of a stretch to see these happen in CA???

California to ban all imports of live crawfish.
First shark fins, then bullfrogs now live crawfish will be stopped "dead" in their tracks from entering the CA nature's food chain.  Dead crawfish must be inspected at the state border with Nevada, the main state from which crawfish is being imported to make sure they are dead.  "This new law will save at least 1,000 lives over the next 10 years"

Restaurateur Kevin Jameson who owns the "CA-CA-CAjun Whodat" Cajun food restaurant on Rodeo Drive was interviewed for his response to the new law. "WTF? My customers know frozen crawfish when they taste it. My business will be ruined. But, hey, it'll save lives, I'm told. So, I'm ok with it."

An additional 1500 state employees will have to be hired to fill the role of Crawfish Inspector.

California to require offices and companies to have small paper sacks to combat CO2:
Hyperventilation causes an imbalance of CO2 in the body by forcing the CO2 out into the air. CO2, also known as carbon dioxide, is considered a green house gas by those in the know.  Panic attacks can also cause excess CO2 to form. There are over 75 documented cases of hyperventilation in CA alone. This new law will prevent over 50 premature deaths over the next 75 years.

Only CA-approved paper sacks made from recyclable materials will be allowed. CA will set aside $500,000 to hire inspectors for this very important life saving procedure.

"We will be having instructional classes for people to be certified to administer the paper sacks in the proper way," said Donna Womack, Spokeswoman of the State agency CARB. These classes are only $5 since CA is picking up most of the tab for the classes which would normally cost the taxpayer $1500. Contact your local YMCA for times and locations.  Companies and Corporate offices within CA will be required to offer classes to employees as part of their normal Office Safety Protocol.

Californians required to speak Spanish-only by 2020
"Let's face it, we're no longer an English language only state and 85% of CA'ians speak Spanish," said Assemblyman Gunther.  "All part of a decade long effort spearheaded by the 'Spanish Only and Absolutely Nothing Else' grassroots organization," he added with pride.

Manuel Junco, freshly arrived from Guatemala, is head of the grassroots group. "It was really helpful when businesses through their own free programs chipped in to teach Anglos the Spanish language," He said.  "Who knew at the time that they were really helping our cause?"

Assemblyman Gunther during the interview also had this to say: "Se Habla Espanol!" Then he added, "We've mandated the hiring of additional Spanish-Only teachers.  We think that the best way to teach Spanish is to immerse the children in the language with little to no English.  We'll offer additional after-school tutoring as well to hurry them along."  When asked why CA didn't do something like this for Spanish speaking students to learn English he said, "Why the hell would we do that?  Do you want to destroy their culture?"

Beltway Dynamic Machine and Tools Moves Lock, Stock and Barrel to Texas.  California starts new program to ease people OUT of the state.
"If they don't want to stay, what the hell, they can leave for all we care" said Nancy Danglespur, head of the new CA government agency. The agency called "Employment Enhancement State Initiative (EESI pronounced EASY) was established to assist companies in their search for better working conditions and higher profit margins, even if that means leaving the state.

"All they could say to me was ‘don't let the door hit you in the ass’ with a smile on their faces. I mean, doesn't Los Angeles care that we're all leaving this god forsaken state?" said Jeremy Gifford, owner of Beltway Dynamic Machine and Tools which is located in downtown LA.
The State Employment Board of governors has estimated that the new regulations will save hundreds of lives over the next 5 years. "Of course it will" said Jeremy Gifford . "If I make more money by moving out the state with my employees leaving with me, we'll all live better, healthier lives."

California implements new labor laws to accommodate newly formed religions. Newly formed ten minutes ago, that is.
New labor laws allow an employee to declare his religion and object to an employer’s job functions within 10 minutes of the offense. Employers will be required to file with the State Board of Employee Relations to have the matter resolved through an independent arbitrator. Due to State budget constraints, this expense is to be borne by the employer.
One employer, who agreed to talk to us about this under conditions of anonymity, said "I'm already getting grief from one employee at my vegetarian restaurant. He says he's a carnivore and won't handle the vegetables anymore because it offends his religious tendencies toward meat. But I can't fire him. The expense of filing the grievance for arbitration is so time consuming, it's cheaper for me to just keep him and have him answer the phones. Just one slip up and he's out of here." Then he added "If only he had just told me he was a Baptist or Episcopalian, I could have fired him on the spot."
A CA spokesperson said this new law will save untold lives, but gave no details as to how this would be attained.

San Francisco passes law to recycle spit.
Within the next few months you will start seeing what appear to be spitoons in elevators, street corners and bus stops. "We just put them at all the BART stations. They're very convenient, " says one worker in the newly formed agency.
"Spit is almost 100% water" says Jeffrey Nordlinger who was just sworn in as the Department Head of Fringe Water Collection and Conservation. "There's no reason in the world that spit SHOULDN'T be recycled."
When asked how the spit would be treated, Mr. Nordlinger was a little vague. "The technology is still being perfected. In the meantime, large vats are being constructed to store the future water source, just outside Oakland."
Other sources of water are also welcome, he continued. "We're looking forward to the cold season where any hocking and nasal secretions can be collected as well" Finally, he said "We're excited that we can close the loop of the water cycle from ingestion to secretion, back to ingestion.  Just think of the lives we'll be saving."

CA moves to ban fracked natural gas. Not natural.
"Of course, it's not natural" said an official today, "considering the un-natural way it's extracted from the ground. We all know that if it's natural it's good for you." CA Assemblyman Rutherford added "We decided to take a principled stand against fracked natural gas for not being natural." When asked what would Corporate America have to do to show that it is natural natural gas he said "We're drawing up the regs now."
When asked about what this will do to the price of natural gas in the state, he said "We expect it to go up no more than 500% in cost. Besides, we're saving lives. We'll make up the cost in savings from lower healthcare costs.”

The U.S. Suffered Its Worst Airpower Loss Since Vietnam Last Week and No One Really Noticed

And, pray tell, where will the money come from to replace this loss?
He spells out some more of the details of the attack:
Eight irreplaceable aircraft (the AV-8B has been out of production since 1999) have been destroyed or put out of action – approximately 7 percent of the total flying USMC Harrier fleet. Worse yet, the aircraft involved were the AV-B+ variant equipped with the APG-65 radar and AAQ-28 Litening II targeting pods – the most capable in the force. Given the current funding situation, it’s likely that the two damaged AV-8Bs will become spare parts “hangar queens” and never fly again. A Harrier squadron commander is dead, along with another Marine. Another nine personnel have been wounded, and the nearby Marines at Camp Freedom are now without effective fixed-wing air support. The USMC’s response to this disaster will be a telling report card on its leadership and organizational agility.
With one attack SEVEN PER CENT of the USMC Harrier fleet is WIPED OUT.  This is a really.  Big Blunder.

Will the US Military lose it's ability to combat due to a death by a thousand cuts?

Looks like crony capitalism to me.
Now, there is only one reason for Villaraigosa to hide the AEG sale from those who most needed to know about it. According to mayoral candidate Kevin James, that reason is simple: AEG received a sweetheart deal at taxpayer expense, which upped AEG’s sale price. Now the new buyers will have a great deal with the City of Los Angeles. And Villaraigosa will get to look like a hero for bringing the NFL to Los Angeles. Perfect for his gubernatorial run.

There’s something seriously fishy going on here. The details of the AEG deal must be examined closely, especially given the fact that Los Angeles already carries a $258 million deficit and a $27 billion unfunded pension liability.

But this is how Democrats do business. There’s a reason that Villaraigosa and Barack Obama are thick as thieves – when it comes to taxpayer dollars, they are thieves.

I don't visit Pamela Geller's website very much. For one thing, I don't like that she hijacked Ayn Rand's book title.  There is no copyright infringement, but the title is so much part and parcel with the book that to see it used some other way rubs me the wrong way.

Having said that I believe what she is doing is good.  In this interview the CNN interviewer Erin Burnett comes across as a virgin who has never had an orgasm before and doesn't understand why anyone would want to have one. It has got to be the must jawdroppingly stupid act (for what else could it be?) that I have ever seen. Is it possible that someone so high up in MSM could be so... gosh!  I'm out of words! Stupid?  Is that the only word I can come up with?

One can only wonder what planet Miss Burnett is from.

Maybe she should go back to her planet....

The comments on her blog are great:
When we lived in the CCCP, we used to listen to Radio “Voice of America” to learn the Truth since the Soviet MSM promoted only Communist Party Propaganda. Now in the US the MSM (like CNN = Communist News Network) does the same. So now we can learn the truth only from Blogs like Pamela’s Atlas Shrugged, or Russian Pravda on the Internet…

Dear Ms. Geller:

Shocking how Burnett kept ignoring the reality of worldwide Jihad violence in order to reprimand you over how the terms "Jihad" and "Savage" were used in your ads. I have a you thoughts on this.

I am a homosexual. If I were to be a guest on Burnett's show and wanted to speak about "gay issues" in the Muslim world; such as gang rapes of lesbians to turn them heterosexual (long enough for them to then be arrested and executed for having been raped in the first place) or the sadistic ways in which gay men are executed; I wonder what would happen? Would Erin keep interupting me on how talking about killings of Muslim-World gays was a "downer" and after all; as a "gay" person I should be speaking about happy-go-lucky, frivolous, joyful, unicorns and lollipops ways of positive thinking? I mean, I am "gay" after all.

I am also of Native American Indian ancestry. Many American Indians have over the centuries have been referred to as "savages." As someone who has had to endure this slur; I have this blunt statement about the use of "savage" in the ads...

Its NOT racist. I'm aware that this term IS NOT referring to a specific race- generalizing an entire ethnicity as "savage". By the way Ms. Burnett what "race" are Muslims who embrace violence, hatred and murder? No race or ethnicity is mentioned in the ads. What the ads do refer to is Jihad- the monstrous war radical Islam is waging against anyone they deem inferior.

This gay American Indian mixed-blood is 100% in agreement with Pamela Geller that beheadings, anti-Semitic murders, enslavement of young girls, suicide bombings, etc-the list is sadly endless... are indeed savage.

Also, as someone who speaks and understands the English language; no where in those ads are law abiding Muslims mentioned. The act of Jihad (religious war) is what is derided and rightfully so. That Ms. Burnett is either purposefully twisting the ads message or she is incapable of understanding the English language seems to be the only options to explain her pathetic behavior during Ms. Geller's interview.

The difference between the Islamic and Western world... Erin apparently doesn't take the time to learn the biographies of her guests. Ms. Geller is of Hebrew heritage; not a Christian. Now, if a radical Muslim Jihadist were to be mistaken for a Hindu in India... for a Buddhist in Thailand... Christian in Pakistan... or Jewish in Israel... not only would that Jihadist be highly offended; he might even harm the person who made the error... after all, those other religions are infidels! Non-believers in Islam and therefore worthy of no respect whatsoever.

However, in America... you can refer to someone as being a member of a faith in which they do not belong and guess what? It is probably not going to be viewed as an insult and not even bothered to be corrected. Erin you are in a civilized nation and were speaking to a modern civilized human being in Geller. Now, I would love to see Erin (wearing a Hirjab) excitedly get a face-to-face interview with some victimhood obsessed Jihadist, and during the interview mis-speak and refer to him as.. Hindu? Christian? Jewish? I bet the reaction would not be so nice.

Do as the ads say Erin. Support civilized people... and defeat Jihad.

Pamela Geller- you are awesome!

OH my gosh...Pamela, I don't know how you endure the crap flung at you by the Nazi, totalitarian, anti-life left. But I'm glad you're out there. And THIS Roman Catholic--who has a deep and abiding love and respect for the Jewish people--stands with YOU. And Israel.

California governor signs bill allowing sale of some homemade foods

Sort of the right direction.  This requires registration and permitting with the state…and why??
Now, wannabe entrepreneuers can skip the expensive step of leasing certified commercial kitchens before selling their home-prepared confections. The list of approved products include “non-potentially hazardous food” such as bread, fruit pies, jams, honey, dried nuts and other goods that don’t involve cream or meat ingredients.

The legislation, co-written by Assemblyman Mike Gatto (D-Silver Lake), still requires home food producers to obtain permits, label their goods and, in some cases, register with local health departments and complete food handler courses.

Atwater, California mulls fiscal emergency, bankruptcy

I’ve read several articles on cities in CA facing possible bankruptcy, but this one was never mentioned.

Atwater faces a general fund deficit of $3.3 million, the notice said. "Without further action, the City will not be able to pay its obligations," it added. According to the notice, city staff have recommended to Atwater's city council that it take up the matter of a fiscal emergency again on Oct. 3.

That will give city staff time to work on solutions to avoid a bankruptcy filing and gather material needed for a fiscal emergency declaration, according to the notice.

"While bankruptcy is always a last resort, if other solutions do not allow the City to meet its legal obligations to balance its FY 12/13 operating budget, while providing adequate levels of services necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Atwater, the City may be required to seek bankruptcy protection," the notice said.

North Pole. South Pole One is less. One is more.

We call it the Sin of Omission.  This is where you tell a partial truth and have it appear to be the whole truth. So when you say that the North Pole has less ice and this is due to Global Warming...what's your explanation for the South Pole and its record amount of ice?

First, let's cover the first article and all of its warning bells and sirens of Global Warming:
In a critical climate indicator showing an ever warming world, the amount of ice in the Arctic Ocean shrank to an all-time low this year, obliterating old records.

The ice cap at the North Pole measured 1.32 million square miles on Sunday. That's 18 percent smaller than the previous record of 1.61 million square miles set in 2007, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo. Records go back to 1979 based on satellite tracking.

"On top of that, we're smashing a record that smashed a record," said data center scientist Walt Meier. Sea ice shrank in 2007 to levels 22 percent below the previous record of 2005.

Ice in the Arctic melts in summer and grows in winter, and it started growing again on Monday. In the 1980s, Meier said, summer sea ice would cover an area slightly smaller than the Lower 48 states. Now it is about half that.

Man-made global warming has melted more sea ice and made it thinner over the last couple decades with it getting much more extreme this year, surprisingly so, said snow and ice data center director Mark Serreze.
We see phrases and words such as: "ever warming world" and "smashing records.  Then we see a subtle extrapolation in the last paragraph to cover the entire globe and no longer refers to the Arctic ice.

Now, let's look at the second article:
Antarctic sea ice set another record this past week, with the most amount of ice ever recorded on day 256 of the calendar year (September 12 of this leap year). Please, nobody tell the mainstream media or they might have to retract some stories and admit they are misrepresenting scientific data.

National Public Radio (NPR) published an article on its website last month claiming, “Ten years ago, a piece of ice the size of Rhode Island disintegrated and melted in the waters off Antarctica. Two other massive ice shelves along the Antarctic Peninsula had suffered similar fates a few years before. The events became poster children for the effects of global warming. … There’s no question that unusually warm air triggered the final demise of these huge chunks of ice.”

NPR failed to mention anywhere in its article that Antarctic sea ice has been growing since satellites first began measuring the ice 33 years ago and the sea ice has been above the 33-year average throughout 2012.

Indeed, none of the mainstream media are covering this important story. A Google News search of the terms Antarctic, sea ice and record turns up not a single article on the Antarctic sea ice record. Amusingly, page after page of Google News results for Antarctic sea ice record show links to news articles breathlessly spreading fear and warning of calamity because Arctic sea ice recently set a 33-year low.

Sea ice around one pole is shrinking while sea ice around another pole is growing. This sure sounds like a global warming crisis to me.
The Forbes article also included the fact that ice in the Arctic is at a low point.  But maybe the Global Warming model predicts this?  Hah!  I doubt it!

The Coming American Energy Independence

This will be true for every state except for CA since CA is CA's worst enemy.
The American public will soon politically coalesce around a major increase in domestic energy exploration and development, in order to facilitate the elimination of reliance on imported Middle East oil. Fortunately, America has technology and resource potential to rapidly make this initiative a reality

Study: Air Pollution From Grilled Burgers Worse Than Trucks

Well. if you are a CARB  employee then you know how BAD diesel is.

This is complete BS.
“For comparison, an 18-wheeler diesel engine truck would have to drive 143 miles on the freeway to put out the same mass of particulates as a single charbroiled hamburger patty,” said Bill Welch, the principle engineer.

California Desert City To Consider Solar Ban

More hoops and roadblocks for solar energy providers to jump or navigate.  CA is CA's worst enemy.
The Commission's recommendation is notable for its failure to pull punches:
Through the extensive review of the issue completed in numerous Study Sessions and Public Hearings, the Commission concludes that it cannot be demonstrated that allowing the development of Commercial Solar Fields shall provide a direct, tangible benefit to the community through the provision of improved community infrastructure, increased personal, sales, or property taxes, or provide reasonable and sustainable, long term employment to residents or visitors to our community, and whereas Commercial Solar Fields can be shown to have direct, adverse impacts to the aesthetic quality of the desert vistas the community now enjoys, deleterious effects to the tourist industry that the community depends on, potential adverse impacts to property values for the properties adjoining or surrounding such facilities, potential decreases in the quality of life for those individuals that reside with properties adjacent to or surrounding such facilities, and potential serious impacts to the biologic, cultural and social resources of our community. Under this conclusion, the commission must recommend that "Commercial Solar Fields" should be listed within all land use tables of the Development Code... as a "Prohibited Use."
The Twentynine Palms City Council has not yet formally discussed the recommendation.
I think vast fields of solar panels are kind of cool looking.  Really!

Like, California has hella accents, study confirms

They're kidding, right?  I think the prevailing accent is Hispanic...
She found that many Californians share common traits with people in the Midwest or the South, showing that Dust Bowl migration influenced dialect.

“A pattern that is well-known in the parts of the Midwest and Pennsylvania and Ohio is called the positive anymore, (such as) 'I shop there anymore,'” she says, explaining most people use anymore in a negative construction, such as “I don’t shop there anymore.”

“We found that all over California and did not expect it.”

She also learned that many Californians use a nasally "a," found often in the Midwest. Once when she was interviewing a student at a Palo Alto high school, he complained the school was too homogenous, noting there weren’t a lot of “blocks.” After a moment, she realized he said "blacks."

Some Californians share commonalities with Southerners, notably the switch between was and were. Many Southerners say, “We was at the store” instead of, “We were at the store," and Californians also sometimes swapped was and were. She also observed that Californians blended pen/pin, with speakers saying both words the same, much like people in the South.

Family of Anti-Islam Filmmaker Joins Him in Hiding

I just have to wonder how far the MSM will take this.  And how far O'Bama is going to take this as well.

Why hasn't O'bama stood up for this man?  Why hasn't he made this a "teachable moment" for the rioters explaining to them that regardless of what they do - murder and riot - this will have no impact on free speech in America.

Where is O'bama on this??
Shortly before 4 a.m. Monday, officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department escorted members of Nakoula's family, who had their faces covered, out of the house and into police vehicles so they could rejoin Nakoula at an undisclosed location.

"They decided they would be safer where they could move about and live a normal life," said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department. "All we did was pick them up and reunite them with Mr. Nakoula."

Whitmore said the family's current whereabouts are unknown to him, and it was his understanding that they won't ever return to their Cerritos house, though that decision was "entirely up to the family."

"What we do know and what they told me is that for the time now and for the immediate future, for the weeks and months to come, they will not be returning to this address," Whitmore said.

Regulatory Tsunami To Hit Business If Obama Wins Second Term

They mean the SECOND regulatory Tsunami.  Because we're drowning in one now.
That tally doesn't include the more than 100 still-to-be-written regulations needed to enforce the Dodd-Frank financial reform law, or the mountain of regulations required by ObamaCare. The health law has already resulted in thousands of pages of rules, including 18 pages simply to define what a "full-time employee" is.

Among the most expensive new rules now waiting in the wings:

Smog rules. Although Obama canceled those extremely tight new standards — which would put most of the country out of compliance and cost $90 billion a year to meet — he promises to revisit the issue in 2013 and could easily reverse course.

Food safety rules. The Food and Drug Administration finished up vast new food safety rules by the end of last year, but they've been held up by the White House. The cost isn't clear, although the administration admits that the price tag for the rules dealing with imported food "will be significant."

Auto mandates. The Department of Transportation wants to require all new cars to include a rear-view video camera that turns on when cars are backing up. The cost? $10.8 billion over four years.

Greenhouse gas rules. The EPA had planned to release new rules limiting greenhouse gas emissions from oil refineries by this November, but now says it won't issue the rules until next year at the earliest. The oil industry says that, depending how the EPA writes the rule, it could be "very expensive."
This isn't just kicking a man while he's down.  It's kicking, beating and using a chainsaw on him while he's down.

Genetically modified foods: Why does California insist on finding a problem where nobody else does?

Even the federal Food and Drug Administration, normally inclined towards being more meddlesome over less, has declined to require all foods in the U.S.A. to carry GMO labels. Imposing such a mandate in California would create a whole new level of regulation-and-litigation bureaucracy that no Californian food-business or individual consumer could avoid paying for. (For more resources, here’s a great piece from the Volokh Conspiracy on why this whole labeling idea is a possibly unconstitutional farce, and an op-ed from the LA Times on why California’s entire ballot-initiative procedure is a hot mess.)

The hubris of ignorant environmentalist groups never ceases to amaze. Have they ever paused to consider that genetically modified foods can, perhaps, save lives and help lift human beings out of poverty? Maybe?

Young illegal immigrants in California may get driver's licenses

Whatever you do, don't blame us!  Blame your dad.  He's the idiot that brought you here and made you endure that terrible inconvenience!
Most Californians her age can drive. But Esquivel, a college freshman, was brought illegally to the United States from Mexico when she was 7. And California has denied driving privileges to immigrants lacking legal status since 1993.

Without a license ... I have to depend on others to do the basic things," said Esquivel, who lives in rural Parlier, Calif., has classes at the college four times a week in Fresno. "It's a big inconvenience."

But Esquivel soon could get driving privileges: She is one of an estimated million eligible for a new federal program that gives a deportation reprieve and grants work permits to people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children. California has the largest number of potential applicants.

I predict that more people will leave the USA.  Why?  Because they will want to belong to a country that belongs to THEM.  America is slowly becoming a country that belongs to everyone - which is the same as belonging to no one.

And anyway, why not? If you jet and go become a citizen of Singapore and decide you want to live in the USA for a year or two, who's to stop you?? Certainly no border patrol or ICE agents!  They'll welcome you back with open arms!

Feds interview California filmmaker, LA Sheriff says

The first problem is that the Feds are investigating someone that is expressing his GOD GIVEN right to free speech.  The second problem?  That the LA Sheriff's Department knows about it, too.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, was interviewed at the sheriff department station in his hometown of Cerritos, Sheriff's Deputy Don Walker said.

Federal officials have said they were investigating the activities of Nakoula, who has been convicted of financial crimes. If the probation department determines Nakoula violated terms of his release, a judge could send him back to prison.

Walker said Nakoula traveled voluntarily in a squad car with deputies.

"He went to the Cerritos station to talk with probation officers. He's not under any arrest," Walker said.

The deputy said he doesn't have information on the interview or how long it lasted. Station KNBC says Nakoula went to the station early Saturday morning.
So they think if they can find out if he violated his probation, they can put this LAWBREAKER back into prison.

That is just like the fucking government.

Pretty soon there will be a term for people who dare to speak their mind. It will be derogatory and aimed at belittling those that dare practise free speech.  And the irony of it all?

It will be the MSM that will adopt this term.

Perhaps we can guess what this term might be.  Just like they easily and effortlessly adopted "teabaggers" to slander those in the Tea Party Movement.

Waggers?  As in wagging one's tongue.

Oh yeah.  One last comment.  We can thank the Federal Government for digging deep to find out who made this film in what amounts to issuing a DEATH SENTENCE on this man who did nothing more than speak his mind.

Way to go Bam!

CA Democrat Senator: Cap and Trade Kills Jobs

This is a shocker.  A CA Dem admits Cap n Trade is a disaster for CA.

Summarizing what he took away from the report and hearing, Wright said, “It is clear that this cap and trade will have no impact at all on climate change. It will add significant cost to business and threatens the economic future of this state. The cap can be achieved without the trade. Trade encourages gaming of the system and has the very real potential to drive business away.”

At the hearing, Wright testified that every time we have made a unilateral change it has been devastating to the economy, pointing to the departure of the Firestone and Uniroyal plants in Los Angeles. He used the example of truck stops popping up just outside our state’s borders, where truckers fill up before entering the state to avoid additional California taxes, as a scenario where businesses find a way to get around California regulations and California loses out on hundreds of millions each year in sales tax revenue.

D'Souza Gets Boffo Results By Exploding Obama Story or "The Irrelevance of the MSM"

I have not seen this movie yet.  I might have to wait until the DVD comes out.  But the fact it's doing so well despite little or no coverage by the MSM tells us how little influence they have nowadays.
Since its initial release on July 20, "2016" has taken in $26 million, the sixth-highest grossing documentary of any kind. The book and film link Barack Obama with his estranged late Kenyan father and suggest the two share a deep-seeded hatred for colonialism and capitalism

EPA Honors Noted Environmentalist Che Guevara

This is evil and disgusting.
The internal email sent by EPA management analyst Susie Goldring was said to have been issued without clearance from higher-ups. EPA said it was "drafted and sent by an individual employee, and without official clearance."

But sent it was, a document with a photo of a mural with a visage of the murderous revolutionary that was lifted without attribution from the website, Guevara, of course, was an enemy of the very freedom that Hispanics, particularly from Cuba, came here seeking.

Was honoring Guevara an accident in an administration led by a disciple of Saul Alinsky, where self-avowed Marxist Van Jones gets the prime post of President Obama's "green jobs" czar?
Sorry.  Either way you look at it, mistake or intentional, the EPA looks....evil.

California carbon market to be short of offsets: report

Short of supply plus high demand means HIGHER PRICES.  And if the price is too high and installing expensive abatement equipment is not an option, companies will walk away from CA and built elsewhere.

State regulators have so far approved four offset project types that can generate credits for the California cap-and-trade system, but they alone will not deliver a sufficient supply to meet maximum demand. "Short supply of offsets will result in a higher overall cost of the program to California companies and residents, and could overwhelm the other cost-containment mechanisms ARB (Air Resources Board) has built into the program," said the ACR. Companies can buy offset credits to meet their emission caps more cheaply than investing in new technology to limit CO2 output and buying emission allowances.

California art work emerges from Solyndra's bankruptcy

When the world hands CA lemons....
A small building tucked in the hills of Northern California shines with an unusual green glow from hundreds of glass tubes jutting out from one side toward nearby bushes.

Inside, the dark wooden shed contains an undulating wall filled with the translucent rods, each like a 3-foot-long drinking straw, sucking in a cool breeze and the rushing sounds from a nearby waterfall.

The work of experimental architecture is called the SOL Grotto — and Republicans are making fun of it as a symbol of a $528 million federal boondoggle, calling it the most expensive art project ever built.

The newly opened installation owes its 1,368 distinctive glass rods, and its name, to Solyndra — the failed solar company that received a hefty sum in federal loans before going bankrupt and becoming a favorite target for critics of President Barack Obama's energy policy.

When the Fremont-based solar company went under, it left behind millions of 39-inch glass tubes custom-made for its signature solar panels.

Husband and wife design partners Ronald Rael and Virginia San Fratello got the rods from a storage company that ended up stuck with thousands of pallets of them and created the installation in the Botanical Garden at the University of California, Berkeley.

First California sea otter to survive oil spill gives birth to a healthy pup 3 years later

Who the hell cares?  And this passes for news?  This is only news to people who think oil is the evilest thing every invented, or, uh... found or something....

The birth continued the remarkable story of the animal rescued in 2009 from a beach near Santa Cruz. It also was welcome news following a recent state and federal study that found tepid growth of the threatened California sea otter population on the Central Coast.

Scientists say oil is especially harmful to the species that has the thickest coat of any mammal. When the animal’s coat is damaged by oil, its skin is exposed to cold water, which can lead to hypothermia and death because otters don’t have a layer of blubber like other marine mammals.
And how did this oil get on the otters?  Natural oil and gas seeps, that's how.  You know what these are, right?  These seeps occur because environmentalists REFUSE to allow oil companies to drill for the oil, thus relieving the pressure that would stop the seeps.

You see, the environmentalists are complicit in the death of the otters.
