Natural gas gold rush: Is your state next?

A good article on the prosperity that fracking is bringing the northeast.  And those whose lives were lulled into serene pastoral settings are jangled by the onslaught of business.

Personally, I think the decaying northeast NEEDS to be jangled and stood up on its head.  They have forgotten their past.  They've neglected their heritage.  I think it's about time they got shook up!!

"Oh my heavens, yes, the boom is here," says Ohio State University agricultural extension agent Mike Hogan, who until recently worked in two eastern Ohio counties, Harrison and Jefferson. Both sit atop the Utica shale, about 10,000 feet down and prized for its "wet" natural gas, rich with liquid ethane, butane, propane and heavier liquids that can be made into gasoline.

As natural gas prices are down and gasoline prices top $3 a gallon in most of the country, the action in hydraulic fracturing has found a home in eastern Ohio.

"The number of trucks on the roads is incredible," Hogan says. "But the money is more than welcome here.

Fracking of Central Coast Shale Could Fuel Economic Boom

Finally, a positive story on fracking in CA!

Domestic energy industry insiders say the region sits atop a vast supply of Monterey shale which has huge economic potential through hydraulic fracturing or "fracking".

"Underneath the Central Coast which some people estimate could contain as much as 15 billion barrels of oil", says Dave Quast with energy industry advocacy group Energy In Depth, "so there is potential for more development even more then what we have, we're the fourth largest energy producing state."

Quast says there are popular misconceptions that hydraulic fracturing is a threat to public health and the environment.

ForestWatch Investigation Reveals Widespread Fracking in Los Padres

This is really, really funny.

Altogether, the ForestWatch investigation revealed that fracking has occurred in the Sespe Oil Field at least 351 times since the practice was first reported to state officials in the mid-1960s. Fracking continued regularly here through the 1970s and 1980s, declining in the 1990s and was not reported at all in the early 2000s. The true number of fracking jobs may never be known, as the practice does not require any special approvals and is not tracked by state or federal officials, nor is it required to be disclosed to the public.

So this "fracking" thing has been going on in CA for decades and NO ONE NOTICED.

Maybe...just MAYBE it's not as harmful as people make it out to be!  The environmentalists are just stirring up a storm in a teacup...because that's what they do best.

California: The Next Fracking Frontier?

Who are they kidding?  Fracking has been going on in CA for decades and they just recently "discovered" it!  And NOW they get upset.

“As a parent I just feel very violated, that I live in this community, I do everything I can to keep my children healthy, you know you buy plastic without BPA, you buy organic food– and then you send them to school, and 600 yards away, you have this huge industrial operation, and you have very little disclosure as to what’s going on,” Palazzolo says.

And what a complete waste of time and energy.   All she's done is show us how dumb she is and what a spend thrift she is buying organic foods thinking it was safer and more nutritious.  And CA'ians expect her to be knowledgeable about fracking?

Wow. A CA college is involved.  What a shocker!

“It is really disappointing that a school, which promotes diversity and uses the mantra ‘everyone matters,’ would ban an existing club from changing its name," Ms. Blackwell declared. "It is even more frustrating that this censorship isn’t even due to school rules or policy. It is the result of a few administrators’ personal opinions. They just don’t agree with language on YAF’s website about college’s having liberal professors. I guess the truth hurts.”

Conservative students are treated like second-class citizens on liberal campuses like Azusa Pacific University. These campuses love “diversity” and “inclusion”—except when it comes to conservative ideas and values. Proposed campus groups should be beholden to the same standards and rules, not the intolerant opinions and whims of a few administrators. YAF will keep pressuring APU until this unfair decision is overturned.

Costa Mesa Mayor Proposes To Shut Down Soup Kitchens To Deal With Homeless Problem

CA's solution to it's homeless!  Let's just close our eyes! God forbid you work with businesses to lower barriers to get them jobs!!

“My belief is that if we manage to put the soup kitchen out of business that will go a long way to addressing the attractiveness in our city that’s creating a huge negative impact,” Eric Bever said.

According to Bever, the “negative impact” is homeless people who like Costa Mesa because of services that offer food to less fortunate individuals.

First Dreamliner delivery confirms Charleston as international business address

I can see SC becoming the a mini-east coast CA.  I grew up there and am impressed each time I go back to visit my relatives and friends.

Charleston has been an international business address for centuries thanks to its port, but with Friday's delivery of Boeing South Carolina's first 787 to Air India, the Lowcountry has officially reached a higher elevation.

Speaking this week, economist and College of Charleston President George Benson predicted just how high the region could rise on Boeing's wings. He said historians will view the aircraft maker as the most “transformative” economic force on the Charleston area since the Civil War.

And  SC is conservative enough to hopefully steer clear of all of CA's mistakes.  Well, we can hope....
