Government Sugar Policy: Buy High, Sell Low?

And you want to know why we have High Fructose Corn Syrup in our soda instead of cane sugar?  This is why.

It was recently reported that the federal government is considering buying 400,000 tons of sugar to prop up prices for sugar producers. The government would then sell the sugar at a loss of 10 cents per pound, costing taxpayers $80 million.

So if you are one of those people who believe that HFCS is the cause of the rise in obesity and want there to be limits on consumption of sodas along with a whole list of other rules, laws and regulations that empower the government to make criminals of us all...all you have to do is deregulate sugar.

Problem solved.
